SCHEDULE
8:00 – 9:00 am – Registration and Continental Breakfast

9:00 – 10:00 am – Anterior Segment Grand Rounds...With a Twist (Moy)
Proper diagnosis requires knowledge of disease processes and analyzing objective data. Subjective data from the patient including history points and their willingness or ability to accurately convey key points can be challenging to a doctor. This lecture goes over three cases where one of those elements was the key to unlocking the diagnosis for uncommon anterior segment disease diagnoses. 1 hour IOB and Legend Drug (Trt/Mgmt Ocular Disease)

10:00 – 11:00 am – VF Defects Beyond Glaucoma (Moy)
Visual fields are an important diagnostic tool in the armamentarium of the optometrist although they are inherently flawed due to their dependence on patient execution and doctor interpretation. Three cases are presented where screening VF were key in finding underlying disease, glaucoma was on the initial differential, but eventually, retinal or neurologic diagnoses were determined. Pearls on VF interpretation and patient management will be discussed. 1 hour IOB (Neuro-Optometry)

11:00 am – Noon – From Horses to Zebras: Challenging Anterior Segment Diagnosis Grand Rounds (Moy)
Doctors learn to diagnose using pattern recognition and odds of disease process. This grand rounds style talk will go over anterior segment cases that proved complex either from a disease or diagnosis standpoint. Common diagnostic biases will also be discussed. 1 hour IOB and Legend Drug (Trt/Mgmt Ocular Disease)

Noon – 1:00 pm – LUNCH included for ODs

1:00 – 2:00 pm – Painless Shingles and the Zoster of Tomorrow (Moy)

About 1/3 of people are afflicted with Herpes Zoster (HZ) or Shingles at some point in their life. Post herpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a very painful possible sequelae of HZ. With the approval of the Chicken Pox vaccine in 1996, clinical questions arose: What would decreasing rates of the vaccine do to rates of HZ and therefore PHN? Would vaccinated patients get HZ or chicken pox as adults? Would it be more severe or less severe? Add to this that there is a new, improved HZ vaccine, and it is clear that this disease profile is changing. This lecture will go over the history of the disease and emerging data from how vaccine intervention is changing its profile. Case examples will be discussed. 1 hour IOB and Legend Drug (Systemic Disease)

2:00 – 3:00 pm – Advanced Laser and Minor Surgical Procedures – Part 1 (Lighthizer)
3:00 – 4:00 pm – Advanced Laser and Minor Surgical Procedures – Part 2 (Lighthizer)
4:00 – 5:00 pm – Advanced Laser and Minor Surgical Procedures - Part 3 (Lighthizer)

Optometric surgical procedures, including lump and bump removal, chalazion treatment, punctal occlusion, suture correction for entropion, and various anterior segment laser procedures, among others, are essential procedures for optometrists to be familiar with. Furthermore, optometrists in many states are now performing these procedures on a routine basis. This interactive presentation will review and update these optometric surgical procedures including indications, contraindications, risks, complications, treatment protocols, and pre- and post-op management. 3 hours IOB and Legend Drug (Surgery Procedures - Optometric)
