The IOA offers a one day program on Saturday, April 18, 2026, with six hours of continuing education for paraoptometrics, opticians and staff. 8:30 – 9:30 am – How Do I Protect My Doctors Chair Time (new for 2026)
This course teaches how ophthalmic teams can protect the provider's chair time through leadership, staff awareness, appointment management, and daily preparation. It emphasizes team building, monitoring, and effective problem solving. The course will also review feedback from providers in the field.
9:30 – 10:30 am - Children’s Eye Exams (Screening Children/Children Exams)
This course will discuss the ocular development and growth of young children. The discussion will cover issues dealing with the pre-screening and preparation of young children. It will go over scenarios and possible outcomes and touch base on myopia management. It will discuss set-up, testing, and concerns in treating young children and dealing with parents.

11:30 – 1:30 pm - Indiana Optometry’s Trade Show & Luncheon
1:30 – 2:30 pm – Making the Sale
This lecture will discuss the art of making a quality sale. We will discuss the atmosphere, product, and how to make a sale and the potential to make multiple sales. We will use scenarios and class participation to make the points.
2:30 - 3:30 pm – Diamonds and Pearls
This course is designed to assist attendees with the skills and techniques needed to work in pressure situations and produce good outcomes and good customer satisfaction. This course is interactive and will solicit topics from the audience on real-world and current situations.
3:30 – 4:30 - Preventing Burnout (Most demanded course in the past 4 years!)
This one-hour course is designed to assist attendees with identifying the signs of burnout themselves and in other employees. This course will also assist with techniques for dealing with burnout. A discussion on the signs and effects of burnout will be discussed. Possible solutions and suggestions will be discussed. This course is very popular and helpful.
