SCHEDULE
8:00 – 9:00 am – Registration and Continental Breakfast
9:00 – 10:00 am – Glaucoma Case Presentations
Michael Cymbor, O.D. – State College, PA
The field of glaucoma is rapidly evolving. Acronyms like ORA, OCT-A, ERG and others have invaded the glaucoma space. This course will help navigate glaucomas stormy waters and provide clarity through a series of glaucoma case presentations in a grand rounds style. Topics discussed include conversion and progression, treatment options, ocular surface disease, compliance, and many others. 1 hour IOB (GL) and Legend Drug
10:00 – 11:00 am – Utilizing New Technology in the Management of Ocular Disease
Michael Cymbor, O.D. – State College, PA
Technologies such as electroretinography, dark adaptation and OCT angiography are often able to diagnose ocular disease much earlier in the disease state spectrum. This course will discuss experiences with these technologies. 1 hour IOB (GO)
11:00 am – Noon – Exercise and Eye Disease
Michael Cymbor, O.D. – State College, PA
The management guidelines for cardiovascular disease, dry eye, myopia, diabetic retinopathy, atherosclerotic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma are well established. Exercise is emerging as a major modifiable risk factor in these common eye diseases, and clinicians may be missing opportunities to include this in patient conversations. This course will discuss the role that exercise plays in each of these conditions and will highlight practical advice on meaningful ways of having exercise discussions with patients.
1 hour IOB (GO)
Noon – 1:00 pm – LUNCH included for ODs
1:00 – 3:00 pm – Rule These Out Before You Diagnose Dry Eye
Mile Brujic, O.D. – Bowling Green, OH
Although dry eye can be a debilitating condition for some, it can be virtually asymptomatic for others. Additionally, there are several conditions that can mimic dry eye. This course will discuss those conditions that need to be ruled out before starting a dry eye treatment regimen for patients complaining of dry eye symptoms. 2 hours IOB (SD) and Legend Drug
3:00 – 4:00 pm – Anterior Segment OCT Updates
Mile Brujic, O.D. – Bowling Green, OH
Anterior segment technologies continue to provide us opportunities to care for our patients in new, innovative ways. This course will review anterior segment OCT and it’s role in managing ocular surface conditions. 1 hour IOB (TD) and Legend Drug
4:00 – 5:00 pm – Update on Retinal Surgery and Small Gauge Vitrectomy for Persistently Symptomatic Floaters
Thomas Ciulla, M.D. – Indianapolis, IN
The treatment of surgical retinal conditions has evolved dramatically over the past decade. Macular holes and macular pucker diagnosis have improved with the widespread availability of OCT. Vitreous membranes, strands and floaters cause meaningful symptomatology, which is generally not reflected in visual acuity testing, but patients often note increased symptoms after cataract extraction. Symptoms from all of these conditions are exacerbated with the popularity of smart phones, tablets, and computers. This course will provide a better understanding of the pathophysiology of common surgical retinal conditions. Symptoms and diagnostics will be reviewed, and indications for referral discussed. Advancements in vitrectomy and considerations for surgical management will also be discussed. An intraoperative video will be shown to gain a better understanding of treatment. 1 hour IOB (PS) and Legend Drug
