Offering split day registration and 14 hours of Indiana Optometry Board continuing education credit (5 hours Legend Drug), the popular IOA Fall Seminar will be held at the Indiana Memorial Union on the IU campus in Bloomington. Register on or before Sept. 25 to avoid the $50 late fee.

This course will discuss diabetes not only from the ophthalmic perspective but also the systemic. The importance of systemic diabetes will be discussed and how it relates to the optometrist. Art of Optometry

This course will discuss the importance of optometry beyond the science. Art is needed in practicing optometry to its fullest extent, and this course will discuss the importance of the art of optometry and how to practice our profession to its fullest. 1 Hour IOB (GO)

Myopia Control

Myopia management is a quickly evolving science that has opened the door for optometrists to provide an impactful service. The field has been growing for the last several years based on new and decades-old research. As it becomes mainstream every optometrist needs to step forward and understand this growing body of literature and be able to apply it to clinical practice. This course will provide a pathway to apply this to clinical management given our scientific knowledge in 2024. 2 Hours IOB (GO)

Indiana University School of Optometry residents will present and discuss interesting and exciting cases that they have encountered during their residency. 1 Hour IOB

What Else Could it Be: Glaucomatous vs. Nonglaucomatous Optic Neuropathy

Not every visual field defect or OCT RNFL defect is due to glaucoma. So, what else could it be? This course will discuss some key features to help differentiate between glaucomatous and nonglaucomatous optic neuropathy as well as tips for further testing to confirm your diagnosis and associated treatment. 1 Hour IOB & Legend Drug (GL)

Foundations of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation - Part 1

This course will provide a foundational understanding of the role of neuro-optometric rehabilitation for vision disorders associated with concussion, stroke, and other neurological syndromes. We will cover basic awareness of patients’ vision, screening for visual complications of neurologic impairment and injury, and therapeutic interventions to improve patient responses to other therapies. 1 Hour IOB (NO)

This course will provide a foundational understanding of the role of neuro-optometric rehabilitation for vision disorders associated with concussion, stroke, and other neurological syndromes. Medically Necessary Contact Lenses

Fitting contact lenses on infants and children with various disorders is critically important to normal vision development. This course is designed to give eye care providers background on the types of conditions that can cause amblyopia without intervention and to guide doctors through the path of choosing an appropriate lens, fitting the lens, teaching parents to care for the lens, with special cases and examples to share. Discussions on how to interact with infants and parents in the exam room and special considerations for children with medical conditions and special needs will be discussed. 1 Hour IOB

Enhancing Your Practice with Scleral Lenses
Jennifer Fogt, OD, Columbus, OH
Poor lens comfort and residual refractive error are challenges faced by contact lens practitioners which can often be overcome with scleral lenses. This course will discuss the basics of fitting scleral lenses including selecting suitable patients, choosing and fitting a lens, and troubleshooting difficult fits. Examples of optimal fits and common problems will be included. 1 Hour IOB

Geographic Atrophy: Treatable Macular Degeneration
Thomas Stone, MD, Lexington, KY
This course will discuss current diagnostic criteria and classification of age-related macular degeneration, then focus on the advanced form of non-exudative disease called geographic atrophy. The scientific and clinical background of the treatments for this previously untreatable disease will also be covered. The specific diagnostic findings that can be used in the office and appropriate criteria for referral for treatment will be addressed. 1 Hour IOB and Legend Drug

A Clear View of the Vitreous
Thomas Stone, MD, Lexington, KY
The course will discuss the origin and role of the vitreous in healthy and diseased eyes. Specific ocular pathology that the practicing clinician encounters daily will be addressed, including acute posterior vitreous detachment, peripheral retinal tears and various forms of retinal detachment. At the end of the session the attendees will have a more comprehensive view of the role this part of the eye plays in retinal disease, and how to manage the clinic patients who present with such conditions. 1 Hour IOB and Legend Drug
