Offering 14 continuing education hours that qualify for Indiana Optometry Board credit (10 Legend Drug hours) and six support staff education hours, Indiana Optometry's Meeting will be held April 19 - 20, 2024, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Noblesville Indianapolis Conference Center. The annual convention includes world class education, the Awards Luncheon, a robust trade show with industry leaders, the House of Delegates meeting, an OD/Student networking event and the opportunity to socialize with your peers from around the state.

Diabetes: Then and Now

This course will provide a broad overview of systemic and ocular diabetes management from the perspective of an optometrist with a practice specializing in diabetes care who has also lived with diabetes for more than 50 years. Emphasis will be placed on major advances in all aspects of diabetes care over the last several decades, as well as multiple fallacious "diabetes truisms" held by patients and doctors alike. 2 Hours IOB and Legend Drug, Category: Systemic/Ocular Disease (SD)

Addressing Structural Puzzles in Diabetic Eye Disease

This lecture will take attendees on a journey that reviews the many advances in structural and functional testing for the diagnosis and management of diabetic eye disease. It will delve into the benefits, increased level of patient care, and the quality of patient referrals facilitated by the combination of structural and functional testing. Some of the most advanced and novel technologies, their utility, and their integration into a modern optometry practice will be discussed alongside conventional testing methods.

It is a fast-paced review of therapeutics that currently or soon will affect eye care including indications, dosing, and unique aspects of the therapies. When Good Retinal Surgery Makes Glaucoma Go Bad

This course will discuss the management of glaucoma in patients who have undergone vitreoretinal procedures. The likelihood of development of glaucoma is increased following surgical management of vitreoretinal disease including pars plana vitrectomy, and intravitreal injections of gas, silicone oil, steroid, and anti-VEGF agents, and therefore these individuals require special consideration. Using case examples, this course will discuss the underlying cause of elevated intraocular pressure and glaucoma in patients who have undergone vitreoretinal procedures and will highlight treatment pearls and management considerations. 1 Hour IOB and Legend Drug, Category: Glaucoma

This course details in a case-based format the symptoms and clinical findings in patients with numerous clinical neuro-ophthalmic entities including Horner syndrome, pupil abnormalities, pituitary apoplexy, and giant cell arteritis. This course identifies the true neuro-ophthalmic urgencies and emergencies and provides numerous clinical pearls that practitioners can use to navigate through patients with neuro-ophthalmic disorders. This course discusses common ocular medical conditions which can be challenging to diagnose and treat and are disproportionately involved in cases of misdiagnosis. These conditions include retinal detachment, giant cell arteritis, intracranial mass lesions, and infectious keratitis.
