Event Description
Offering split day registration and 14 hours of Indiana Optometry Board and Legend Drug continuing education credit, the popular IOA Fall Seminar will be held at the Indiana Memorial Union on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington. Register on or before Sept. 12 to avoid the $50 late fee. The event will be held on a Thursday and Friday this year to coincide with the IU School of Optometry Alumni and Class Reunion Weekend.

Advances in Glaucoma: Research, Imaging, and Therapeutics Part 1

This comprehensive session provides an in-depth review of the latest research, clinical insights, and technological advancements presented at the 2024 Optometric Glaucoma Society Annual Program (OGS). The course explores the dynamic regulation of intraocular pressure, the structural and functional changes in the optic nerve head, and the evolving role of ocular coherence technology in glaucoma diagnosis and progression monitoring. Attendees will gain insights from experimental glaucoma models which reveal potential biomarkers of disease and tissue response. The session will also address structure-function relationships in challenging cases like high myopia and advanced diseases. Finally, the course highlights innovations in drug delivery systems and potential neuroprotection treatments. 1 Hour IOB & Legend Drug

This course will discuss the complications and adverse events of the pharmaceuticals that patients are already taking with the treatments that optometrists prescribe. This presentation will immediately aid in everyday patient care. 2 Hours IOB & Legend Drug

The Non-Healing Cornea: Neurotrophic Keratitis

Neurotrophic keratitis is an advanced, often-overlooked corneal disease that requires timely recognition and management. This course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to identify, diagnose, and effectively treat neurotrophic keratitis. The use of a biologic agent will be explored as a primary treatment option, along with a discussion on amniotic membrane as an alternative or complementary therapy. Real-world case studies will be presented to illustrate the best practices and strategies for improving patient outcomes. 1 Hour IOB & Legend Drug
