Marjorie J. Knotts Key Legislative Person Nomination Form
The Marjorie J. Knotts Key Legislative Person of the Year Award recognizes a deserving Optometrist who has contributed to the profession in a legislative capacity to advocate for proper eye care and vision health for the public. The award is named after Marjorie J. Knotts, OD, who served the profession tirelessly as Indiana Optometry’s Government Affairs Committee Chairperson for nearly 20 years.

Qualifications:
  1. Dedicated time and knowledge into forging a stronger, deeper grassroots network by regularly communicating with their legislators
  2. Made a strong financial commitment to furthering the legislative agenda of the IOA by participating in focused fundraisers or regularly giving to Optometry’s PAC
  3. Actively responded to requests to contact legislators on issues impacting optometry
  4. Demonstrated integrity with their legislator(s)
  5. Defended patients’ well-being by testifying, writing letters, or meeting with government officials or legislators
  6. Went above and beyond to stay informed about legislation or proposed bills impacting the practice of Optometry in Indiana
